Sophia was raised in rural Missouri, which is where she developed a fondness for nature. Her love for the natural landscape has helped her to develop an artistic method in which to explore the wide variation of colors and textures to help convey human emotion.
Ten years ago I made St. Louis my home and have developed a fond love for this city, especially the Cherokee Street neighborhood. My interest for the urban and rural has found its way into my artwork with trees sharing the canvas with the St. Louis skyline. I feel passionate about exploring concepts of cooperation and developing a mechanism to embrace those dichotomies that often exist in communities.
With energy and color, her latest work attempts to strike a balance between the old and new, organic and mechanical, the urban and rural.
